A drive through untouched forest with a shot at spotting deer, rare birds, black panthers, bears, and wild elephants. Sightings have dropped in recent years, so keep your hopes wild and your expectations grounded.

A gentle 15-minute walk to a favourite sunset spot by the Supa Dam backwaters. Post-monsoon it's water as far as you can see; in summer it's an open lakebed, often with buffalo herds wandering through.

The #1 thing to do around Dandeli. Gliding through Kali river gives you the best perspective of the forest. 5km or 11km routes, with Grade 2 & 3 Rapids. Running all year except monsoon (Jul-Aug). You'll leave wet, tired and very happy.

Learn to navigate moving water in your own kayak with a guide. You'll probably fall in. That's part of the fun.

Spend your day at a beautiful nature resort on the banks of the Kali River. Swim, kayak if you want to, and a proper lunch on the bank. Zip-lining, zorbing and quad biking also available on-site for an extra charge.

An hour's drive to a forest village: honey-making and coir-mat weaving at Swayam, then a swim and packed lunch among rare orchids at the Orchidarium. A proper day exploring like a local, with almost no mobile signal to distract you.
